City Clerk and Human Resources

Welcome to the City of Cherryville Clerk’s Office and Personnel Department. Mary Beth Tackett  has been the City Clerk and Human Resource Director since April 1, 2025.  She is a veteran of local government since 2014. Mary Beth serves as custodian of all municipal records and is a communication liaison between the Mayor, City Council and the general public. As Human Resource Director, Mary Beth  administers all functions related to city personnel, which includes a full range of human resource services and training programs, as well as support to our Mayor, City Council, City Manager and employees.


The City offers an excellent benefits program, which includes competitive salaries, paid medical insurance, retirement and 401k plans, paid holidays, and longevity pay. In addition to the benefits plan, a variety of voluntary programs are also available.


Over the years, municipal clerks have become the hub of government, the direct link between the inhabitants of their towns and their government. The Clerk serves as the direct link between the citizens and their government and is the historian of the community and its people, maintaining the entire recorded history of the government's actions, which is entrusted to their care and safe keeping.
