Driver/Engineer Position

The City of Cherryville will be accepting applications for the position of Driver/Engineer for the Cherryville Fire Department.  Requirements: A high school diploma or GED, FFI and FFII or NC Firefighter certification, EMT Basic certification, EVD certification and Hazardous Materials Level I Responder certification. Ages 21 and older preferred.


Job may require employee to return to work for emergencies or training.  Employee would be required to have knowledge and operation of fire engines and able to navigate the street in Cherryville.  Must have Class B Driver’s License or be willing to obtain within 6 months.  Applications can be picked up at City Hall at 116 South Mountain Street, Cherryville or call (704) 435-1700 Mon. - Fri 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. or print an application at www.cityofcherryville.com.  Position will be open until filled. Police Officer Position 

The City of Cherryville Police Department is accepting applications for full-time police officer. Duties include Patrolling; Investigating crimes; Traffic control; Apprehending suspects; Operating a patrol vehicle or walking to observe for violations, suspicious activities or persons, and disturbances of law and order; Responding to radio dispatches and answering calls and complaints; Assisting citizens by supplying information or advise; Serves warrants and makes arrests, testifies in court; Provides police escorts, investigates automobile collisions; Maintains records and prepares detailed reports; Serves as dispatcher when assigned; Performs related task as required

 

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina, an acceptable driving history, and a Basic Law Enforcement Certificate issued by the State of North Carolina.

 

Applicants will also undergo a thorough background investigation including a physical examination, psychological examination, criminal records check, and drug screening.
