VOLUNTEER:  PLANNING BOARD / BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS


The Planning Board/Board of Adjustments has a volunteer position open that is a three-year term.

The committee meets the third Monday of every month when needed. The meetings are held at the Cherryville Community Building at 6:00 pm.

Driver/Engineer

The City of Cherryville will be accepting applications for the position of Driver/Engineer for the Cherryville Fire Department.  Requirements: A high school diploma or GED, FFI and FFII or NC Firefighter certification, EMT Basic certification, EVD certification and Hazardous Materials Level I Responder certification. Three to five years' experience in a firefighter's role preferred.

Public Works Superintendent

The City of Cherryville is looking to hire a Street and Sanitation Supervisor. This will be a full-time position with some required overtime work. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Public Works Director. Duties include technical and administrative work in supervising the employees engaged in Sanitation, Streets, Cemetery, and Fleet Maintenance. Applicant must have experience in Public Works related field with at least three years of supervisory experience preferred. Must have good communication and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of mechanical repair on diesel and gas engines a plus. Graduation from a college or university in engineering, business/public administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Employee must posses a valid North Carolina CDL license and be able to physically perform the required duties of the position. Applications are available online and at Cherryville City Hall. WATER PLANT LAB/TECH OPERATOR

The City of Cherryville will be accepting applications for the Position of Water Plant Lab/Tech Operator for the Cherryville Water Treatment Plant. Applicant must have a high school diploma. Applicant would be required to learn the lab procedures that are required by the State and also be willing to learn the procedures for operating the Water Plant. The Water Plant runs 365 days a year. Cherryville Sanitation Department (Truck Driver). Applicant must have a knowledge of heavy equipment such as Sanitation Trucks, Back-Hoe, Loader, Dump Truck, Ect. Heavy Equipment operator preferred. Job requires employee to perform after hours and week­end work at times. Employee would be required to have knowledge and operation of Sanitation Trucks and able to run proper routes. Must have a CDL Drivers License.
